A simpler Jobber alternative for small crews

Settles covers the day-to-day of running a field service business: who is working, where they are, what got done, and whether the month made money. If you run two to twenty people and want fewer moving parts, this is the trade we made.

Who this is for

Settles is built for owner-operated crews in lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, cleaning, and general property maintenance. The kind of business where the owner is still on site some days, payroll is a spreadsheet, and the biggest question at month end is whether the work was actually profitable.

If you need a large office team, dozens of integrations, or franchise-level reporting, a bigger platform will serve you better. We would rather tell you that now than after you have moved your data.

What you get

Scheduling and dispatch for recurring and one-off work. Crew time tracking that clocks in from a phone browser with location captured at clock in and out. Job checklists with photo proof. Client and property records. Invoicing with online card payment, and e-transfer tracking for the clients who still prefer it. A profit and loss view that uses real logged hours rather than what was scheduled.

Pay figures come from actual time entries, never from the schedule. That distinction sounds small and is the whole difference between a number you can act on and one that quietly flatters you.

How it compares

The honest version: Settles is narrower and cheaper, and there are things it does not do yet. Field service platforms change their tiers and features often, so rather than quote figures that go stale, the right column describes the general pattern across established tools. What Settles does not do

No quotes or estimates yet. No QuickBooks or Xero sync. No CSV import yet, so setup means adding your clients and recurring jobs by hand, which for most crews is an afternoon. Settles does not run payroll and never touches your bank account: it tells you what you owe each person, and you pay them however you do today.

What it costs

Flat monthly pricing rather than per user, so hiring a seasonal crew does not change the bill. Base is $100 a month for scheduling, crews, time tracking and invoicing, with e-transfer collection. Payments is $150 a month and adds online card payment on invoices, plus Stripe's own processing fee of 2.9% and 30¢ per transaction, which goes to Stripe rather than to us. Optional SMS add-ons are $5 to $10 a month each. Full detail is on the pricing section.
