A simpler Jobber alternative, priced in Canadian dollars
Start with what Jobber does well, because it does a lot well. It has the deepest product in the category, 4.6 out of 5 across more than 1,400 reviews, and it ships new features faster than anyone else, including AI job costing and voice field updates. If you want the most polished, most integrated tool and a thousand-person company behind it, Jobber is a defensible choice and we will say so.
The trade Settles makes is narrower and cheaper. We cover the day-to-day of a crew business, scheduling, time tracking, invoicing, card payments and real profit reporting, at one plan price in Canadian dollars, and we leave the long tail of features to the bigger platform. Two things make the difference for a seasonal Canadian crew: the currency your bill is in, and what it costs to add the next person.

What it costs to add one crew member for the winter. Jobber charges US$29 per user, roughly $40 CAD at today's rate; Settles charges $4.95 per employee. Hire five for a storm season and that is under $25 a month against about $200.

Jobber's column uses whichever of its annual-prepaid Grow (US$105 for one user plus US$29 per additional user) and Plus (US$280 with fifteen users included, then US$29 each) is cheaper at that crew size, converted at 1 USD = 1.3926 CAD. Job costing needs Grow or Plus, so that is the fair parity comparison. On Jobber's monthly, no-commitment pricing the gap is larger.

The useful question is not whether Jobber has a feature. It is which tier you must buy to get it, and in which currency you pay. Settles is one flat plan.

You want the deepest, most polished product and the widest integrations, you value a thousand-person company behind the software, and a US-dollar bill that moves with the exchange rate is not a concern.
If that is you, buy Jobber. We would rather tell you now than after you have moved your data.
What Settles does not do
No live QuickBooks or Xero sync: you export a QuickBooks Online import file for invoices and payments each month instead. Settles does not run payroll and never touches your bank account: it tells you what you owe each person, and you pay them however you do today. If any of those is a hard requirement, a bigger platform will serve you better.
What it does do: scheduling, crew time tracking, job checklists with photo proof, invoicing with online card payment, e-transfer tracking for Canadian clients, and a profit and loss view built from real logged hours. You can import your clients and jobs from a spreadsheet, including an export from another tool, so setup is quick.

- Is Settles cheaper than Jobber?
- For a crew, yes, and the gap widens as you hire. At 15 people, Jobber's cheaper of Grow and Plus on annual prepay is about $390 CAD a month against $228 on Settles Pro, and each additional user costs US$29 on Jobber against $4.95 on Settles. Jobber's base plan for a single user can be cheaper; the difference is the per-user model.
- Does Jobber bill in Canadian dollars?
- No. Jobber's pricing page states all prices are in US dollars, even though the company is headquartered in Edmonton. A Canadian contractor's bill moves with the exchange rate. Settles is priced in Canadian dollars.
- Can I move my data from Jobber to Settles?
- Yes. You can import your clients and jobs from a spreadsheet, including an export from Jobber. Before you switch, check Jobber's own help centre on cancellation: it states you lose access to your account data, including clients, jobs and invoices, so export first.
- What does Settles not do that Jobber does?
- Quotes are simple (a price the client accepts or declines online), there is no live QuickBooks or Xero sync (a QuickBooks Online import file each month instead), and the integration library is small. If those are hard requirements, Jobber or another larger platform will serve you better.
